COVID-19 has caused health care worker shortages nationwide, and the shortage of support staff for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is particularly acute. That’s despite people with IDDs being significantly more at risk of dying from coronavirus. Statistics also show intellectual disability is the second-highest risk factor (besides age) for death from COVID-19.
