Letter to My Dying Brother

Marie Sherlock writes movingly about sitting down to write a letter to a sibling who lived a difficult life and was now dying. “I regret many things about my beloved brother’s final months but not the letter I painstakingly composed and then read, in person, to him a few weeks before he passed away.” Sherlock gives some good advice for composing such a letter and that it must include “I love you. Thank you. Please forgive me. I forgive you. And, then, goodbye.”
