Physicians Leaving Private Practice?

Number of docs in physician-owned practices falls below 50% for the first time

We have long been concerned about the physician-patient relationship as the practice of medicine becomes more centralized.  An American Medical Association survey reports that older physicians are retiring from small practices more quickly than they are being replaced.  More and more doctors are working as employees of hospitals and large group practices.  What does this mean for patient care, and particularly, for the elderly, poor and disabled?
