Pennsylvania
4/11: Pennsylvania introduced HB1109 to legalize physician-assisted suicide. It has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
Delaware
4/17: The Delaware State Senate voted in favor of legalizing physician-assisted suicide by a vote of 11-8. It now moves to the governor’s desk where it awaits the signature of Delaware’s executive. Though this same bill (HB 140) was vetoed by Governor John Carney last year, it is expected to be signed into law this year by Delaware’s new governor, Governor Matt Meyer, who has spoken publicly in favor of the bill.
Nevada
4/18: Nevada’s physician-assisted suicide bill (AB 346) made its way to the Nevada Senate after being in the Committee on End-of-Life Care and receiving amendments. Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has previously vetoed a similar bill and has publicly stated that if AB 346 makes it to his desk, he plans to veto this bill as well.
New York
4/22: Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D) claims that New York’s physician-assisted suicide bill (A136) has the votes needed to pass.
