Falls Church, Va. – A shocking new video exposé released by Aging with Dignity’s Assisted Suicide Watch tells the story of a mentally ill woman who was able to fraudulently obtain and self-administer assisted suicide drugs to end her life, circumventing the supposed Washington legal safeguards in place to prevent non-eligible people from accessing the deadly drugs.
“Our video documents the utter failure of the State of Washington to competently administer the very program voters approved when they authorized physician-assisted suicide in 2008,” said Aging with Dignity President Jamie Towey. “What they promised could never happen did, and no action has been taken to hold anyone accountable.”
In March 2025, Eileen Mihich (pronounced “meech”), 31, a resident of Oregon, was able to successfully impersonate a California physician, fill out Washington’s written request and compliance forms, forge a prescription, and submit it to a Washington pharmacist who dispensed the lethal medication. Nobody verified the impersonated doctor’s medical licensure for Washington, Eileen’s fake medical diagnosis of State 4 cervical cancer, her mental competence, or even her required Washington state residency. Eileen returned to Oregon with the lethal medication and ended her life on or about March 8th in a room at the Hotel Deluxe in Portland.
“What happened to Eileen could happen in almost every state in America where physician-assisted suicide is legal. The Washington Department of Health is supposedly investigating this case, but it’s been many months and no report,” Towey said. “We call on Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson to impose an immediate moratorium on further assisted suicide approvals until the law is altered to prevent this tragedy from happening again.”
Aging with Dignity is a national non-profit organization with a mission is to affirm and safeguard human dignity at the end of life, and to protect the rights of the vulnerable elderly, the disabled and mentally ill. Its Five Wishes advance care planning program has helped more than 43 million Americans find peace at the end of life. Assisted Suicide Watch was launched in February 2025 to track, expose and oppose state and national efforts to expand physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia.
