When People Talk about Their Loved Ones, Listen.

Embarrassed to admit they're lonely

Much of the meaning in our lives is bound up in our relationships with others. That’s why when we reveal these relationships to people, we are trying to show them who we love, and by extension those who love us, revealing that we too are lovable.

Psychotherapist Margaret McGahon explains how listening for the people and relationships that are important to a person gives us a better glimpse into that person, which can then be used to comfort and validate them.
